When Nina arrived in Cambridge to study for a Masters in Law, she found it a stark contrast to the University of London where she did her undergraduate degree. “I look back at my days at Cambridge fondly and truly believe my time spent there was the catalyst to my success. Surrounded by like-minded individuals with a passion for learning, coupled with ambition, was exactly the environment I was seeking. For the first time I began to think about opportunities beyond the United Kingdom and felt they could be within the reach of a young adult who came from humble beginnings such as myself,” she reveals.

Nina adapted to life in Cambridge quickly, moving around the city with ease on her bike and recalls that in a flash her year came to an end. After graduating she moved to New York to study for the New York Bar and worked for a non-profit organization. In 2000, she started work as a corporate lawyer at the international law firm Shearman & Sterling, gaining extensive experience in structured finance and general corporate matters. In 2005, she joined Blackrock in San Francisco where she worked in investment management. In her eight years at Blackrock she became Managing Director and the Deputy General Counsel of the Blackrock Institutional Trust Company. In April of 2003, she took the role of General Counsel at RS Investments, which was acquired by Victory Capital in 2016 and she continued as the Chief Legal Officer and Head of Human Resource Administration.

Nina currently resides in San Francisco with her husband and two daughters and looks back fondly on her time at Corpus. “Every day when I open LinkedIn, I am reminded of the many fond memories I had at Corpus. The images of new students, graduating students, and pictures of the College itself transport me back to a moment in time that really shaped me as person.”
