Shazz came to Corpus with a full scholarship from Telekom Malaysia to study Engineering. During her time at College, Shazz remembers fondly the engaging supervisions and tutorials with academics such as Sergio Pellegrino, Richard McMahon, David Maull and Keith Seffen, “all of whom have my utmost thanks and respect,” she remarks.

“Academic life in Cambridge was tough and stressful. You can feel and smell the pressure in the air. Everybody was just so good and put in long hours in the library before calling it a night. Lots of laughter with my fellow female engineer bestie Jennifer Simpson, and constant tea and biscuits with Charles Bodsworth, Sacha Deshmukh and Cameron Firth made it survivable!”

Being on a scholarship and living on a student budget, Shazz recalls having to share a phone line with fellow student, Ian Magee who resided in the room above her at Bene’t Street. “We shared the classic answering machine in my room by hanging the connecting wire through the window!”

“My Corpus, and Cambridge, experience played a big part in shaping who I am today. I chose Corpus because it's a small college right in the middle of town; one of the best decisions I have ever made. However, I don’t miss the cold winter walk across Old Court for showers, nor the early morning rowing sessions with ice-covered blades.”

“Looking back, it's incredible to see how many black-tie dinners, garden parties and bops we attended over those few short years, definitely more than I’ve been to since leaving Cambridge 26 years ago. Living College life to the full, from 1993-1996, with Corpus friends is something I will always cherish and will bond us for life.”

Highly successful in her field, Shazz is now the Executive Vice President/CEO of TM One, a leading communications, technology and ICT solutions provider to large enterprise across various industries, including banking, government, energy, healthcare, education, retail, defence, logistics and manufacturing, all primarily in Malaysia.

Shazz is proud to represent such a socially responsible organisation that holds sustainability and equality at its core. “We have a significant number of women in leadership roles, and we work hard to establish women within the business through talent leadership programs.” She is also proud of the initiatives TM One has set up around decarbonisation and giving back to, and growing a, society, community and future generation with technology at its core.

She is also the President Commissioner of PT VADS, TM One’s operating company, one of the largest contact centre service providers in Indonesia, Chairman of VADS Bhd, Director of GITN Sdn Bhd which serves government projects, and she sits on the Industry Advisor Committee for Community Colleges and Polytechnics in Malaysia.

“Despite living in Malaysia, I travel frequently and have been delighted to return to Cambridge with my husband and children several times, sharing the delights of this wonderful place with them, including punting down the Cam.”

Shazz was the poster girl for the Corpus May Ball. She recalls it was strange seeing her photograph hung all over the place with strangers saying hello and shaking her hand on the street. “My pigeonhole certainly filled up with lots of event invitations after.”
